Hannah grew up in Chelmsford, MA, and is now a rising junior in the Dual BA Program between Columbia University and Trinity College Dublin. Students participating in this program spend two years at both schools and graduate with a degree from each university. Hannah is majoring in English and recently completed her first two years of study in Ireland, an experience that taught her as much of life outside the classroom as it did within it. She loves reading and is especially fond of memoirs and Chaucer’s poetry, despite her friends’ teasing when she admits as much.
Hannah has also been creating content for various newspapers and magazines since high school when she was asked to write features for her town’s alumni association magazine. She has since contributed many pieces to several on-campus publications at Trinity, including Trinity Frontier Magazine and Trinity News. Her most recent pieces can be found in Cape Cod LIFE Magazine.
In her free time at school, she traveled, visiting a total of fifteen countries while abroad. The flavorful cuisine and vivid culture of Morocco made it her favorite destination. She is also especially fond of her host country of Ireland and is grateful for the experiences it gave her, from her horrific wintertime surf lesson in the Irish Sea to going vegetarian to escape her own home cooking, which several times led to food poisoning. Though Dublin was a difficult goodbye, this fall she will begin the Columbia portion of her college career, and finds it hard to be anything but excited to attend the school she has had her sights set on since age twelve.
Hannah has always been a goal-oriented person and enjoys positions of leadership that allow her to learn and grow in new ways. She has worked as an assistant front end manager at the Westford Market Basket for four years, a position which enables her to work through new challenges every day, and interned in the financial office of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker last summer, where, among other tasks, she was entrusted to lead other interns in completing a project. She also enjoys the outdoors and is especially fond of skiing, hiking, and exploring the national parks.
Interning at Goodwin Consulting has offered Hannah a wonderful opportunity to explore a potential future career path before going back to school. The work is always varied and interesting, from writing and researching to learning crisis management, and she loves being able to help clients advance and grow their businesses through PR. Even despite the pandemic, this position has offered her valuable experience of working in a fast-paced, real-world environment. She has acquired valuable writing techniques in only two months through composing and editing press releases, pitches, and editorials while engaging with various media outlets has advanced her communication skills. Tara’s concerted effort to teach and expose her to various aspects of PR has made this experience immensely fulfilling and educational. Hannah is looking forward to learning more about the ways of the PR world in the months to come.
